English 101 is intended to enhance communication skills, promote critical thinking and argument, and prepare students for college-level  compositions, essays, short papers, and responses.  English 101 is transferable to four-year universities and is a general education requirement for two and four year degrees.

Fall 2015

​Creative Writing is an introduction to the writing of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction.  This class is open to all students interested in the language arts.  To be successful in this course you need imagination, a love of words, dedication to the creative process, 100% participation in the writing workshops, a sense of humor, and the willingness to revise and improve your stories, poems, and creative essays.

Fall 2015

In this course students will be introduced to the historical literary periods and through the reading of representative literary works will understand the characteristics of each period.  Students will learn to analyze and interpret for traditional literary conventions, language, theme, character, and imagery.  Students will demonstrate their understanding through writing assignments, creative projects, quizzes & exams, class discussion, and in class group work.
